What Parents Should Know About Facebook Messenger for Kids

In response to the over 7 million Facebook users under the age of 13, Facebook released Messenger for Kids last week. The app, created for children ages 6-12, is similar to the original version and allows children to video chat, send photos & videos and message other contacts. Unlike the original version, the app has several features to help protect kids. Parents must set up the account for their children and there is a "parent dashboard" which allows parents to view messages and approve contacts. Additionally, the app does not have advertisements. If parents choose to set up this app for their children, it is important that they still talk with them about safe internet use and online dangers. Parents, your voice makes a difference!
