According to a study published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, researcher Dr. Michael Leahy found that "anxiety has increased so much that typical schoolchildren during the 1980's reported more anxiety than child psychiatric patients did during the 1950's." Research from Dr. Jean Twenge released in 2017 showed that there has been a sharp rise in anxiety over the last five years.
