Just before the first of the year The Oxygen Network announced that they were developing a new TV show based on the life of Rapper Shawty Lo. This announcement didn’t rustle any feathers until it was found out that the show was meant to exploit Lo and the 10 women he has 11 children with. The African-American community joined together to sign several petitions against the show. Several pro-family advocates, including Star Parker, encouraged the cancellation of the show stating that, “The destruction of the black family in only 40 years is not normal and it should not treated as entertainment for vulnerable children and young women. The consequences of living without responsibility perpetuates poverty and it's cruel.”
